Popis

Romanesque Prague is as important in the history of the city, but far from as well known a stage of development as Gothic or Baroque Prague. For the first time, the publication makes the rich and diverse collection of Romanesque secular architecture fully accessible, with the exception of the distinctive units of Prague Castle and Vyšehrad. During the 12th century, residential stone houses were built in the Prague suburbs, buildings completely unique in the Central European environment. The authors describe and evaluate almost 70 objects built using typical techniques from carefully carved blocks, from those that fell victim to the Prague redevelopment to those that have been uncovered by the latest archaeological research.
